Mr. Nicholas Issaka Gbana

Mr. Nicholas Issaka Gbana is a highly accomplished Development Economist and Chartered Accountant with 30 years of work experience in project management and management consulting. He commenced his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (Ghana) in advisory services and subsequently managed his consulting firm for a remarkable 14 years.

He previously served as the West Africa Regional Director of the USAID Africa Trade and Investment Program (ATI), where he led the execution of key programs of Prosper Africa and the USAID Africa Bureau buy-in mechanism. This involved collaboration with USAID regional and bilateral missions in West Africa and the management of funding under initiatives such as Global Food Security (Feed the Future), Ukraine Supplemental, and the Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability (SPCPS).

Mr. Gbana formerly served as the Global Lead for Solidaridad Network’s global expertise team on supportive business ecosystems (SBE) with themes related to skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and small and medium enterprise (SME) development. He also successfully led the implementation of the Sustainable West Africa Palm Oil Programme (SWAPP II) as a Program Manager. Before these roles, Mr. Gbana was a Program Manager at TechnoServe and led the Trade and Marketing component of the USAID Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement Project (USAID ADVANCE) in Ghana. Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Gbana has undertaken numerous short-term consultancy assignments for prestigious multilateral and bilateral development agencies, including the World Bank, International Financial Corporation, German GIZ, and the European Union.

Mr. Gbana holds an M.A. in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana and is a Certified Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He also holds a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana
