Prof. Festus Ebo Turkson

Professor Ebo Turkson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Ghana, where he has been teaching since May 2000. He also serves as an External member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Ghana, responsible for making decisions regarding the monetary policy directions for Ghana.

Prof. Turkson holds a PhD in Economics from the Nottingham School of Economics at the University of Nottingham, UK. Prior to that, he attended Harvard University in the USA as a special student in the distinguished Department of Economics for his PhD coursework. He obtained his Master of Philosophy in Economics and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Sociology from the University of Ghana, the country’s premier university.

Prof. Turkson is a development economist with research interests in various areas, including International Trade, Macroeconomic Policy, Small Enterprises Development, International Trade Policy, Financial and Monetary Economics, International Macroeconomics, and Applied Econometrics. Lately, he has developed a keen interest in natural resource economics, particularly exploring the environmental impact of macroeconomic policies, especially trade and trade policy.

Prof. Turkson is an expert in training related to Impact Evaluation, Microeconometrics, Economic Policy Analysis, and Small Enterprise Development in developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. He has authored over fifty publications in international peer-reviewed journals, research reports, and book chapters. He has also consulted for various international organizations, including the World Bank, IDRC, Swiss National Foundation, DANIDA, ILO, UNECA, AfDB, UNDP, UN-WIDER, Copenhagen Consensus, GIZ, and the ECOWAS Secretariat, among others.

He has been affiliated with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as the Centre for Research in Economic Development and International Trade (CREDIT) and Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP), both at the Nottingham School of Economics, University of Nottingham, UK.

Prof. Turkson holds positions as a Founding Executive Director of GENADE Consult and Supplies Limited, Executive Director of Palladium Ghana Limited, a Senior Consultant of the Corporate Support Group Ltd, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Africa Centre for International Trade and Development (ACINTaD).
